1. My God, my God, why hast thou forsaken me? why art thou so far from helping me, and from the words of my roaring?
2. O my God, I cry in the day time, but thou hearest not; and in the night season, and am not silent.
3. But thou art holy, O thou that inhabitest the praises of Israel.
4. Our fathers trusted in thee:
they trusted, and thou didst deliver them. 5. They cried unto thee, and were delivered: they trusted in thee, and were not confounded.
Psalm 22:1-5
The psalmist speaks of Christ in this prophetic song. Written 1044 years before Christ's birth.
It is God only that can speak of the end of a matter before the beginning.
Here Christ is in agony, carrying the sins of the world to His death.
In the daytime on the cross, the Father laid on Him the iniquity of us all.
God maintains His integrity for He is holy, perfect, without errors.
The psalmist mentioned the father's of Christ's human form, Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob.
The psalmist speaks of Israel being delivered by God, yet Christ could not be delivered from His mission to save mankind.
There is no mistaking this song, is about Christ. Verses 16 and 18, speak of His hands and feet being pierced, and His garments shared, and casting lots for His cloak.
This is just one instance of the Old Testament, speaking about Christ our Saviour. Amen.
