🔸The picture shows the oldest Roman wine bottle in the world. It is about 1650 years old.
In 1867, German archaeologists in town of Spira (Speyer) located on Rhine, in state of Rhineland-Palatinate, discovered a Roman tomb. There were two sarcophagi of two highborn people: a woman and a man and an unopened bottle of wine. It is dated to be around 325-350 AD. It is most likely the oldest unopened wine bottle
in the world. It is assumed that the man may have been a legionnaire, and he may have taken the wine on his way to the afterlife.
Currently, the bottle of wine can be seen in the Historical Museum of the Palatinate (Historisches Museum der Pfalz) in Speyer.
