20. But ye have not so learned Christ; 21. If so be that ye have heard him, and have been taught by him, as the truth is in Jesus:22. That ye put off concerning the former conversation the old man, which is corrupt according to the deceitful lusts;23. And be ye renewed in the spirit of your mind;24. And that ye put on the new man, which after God is created in righteousness and true holiness. Ephesians 4:20-24 Here Paul encouraged believers in their duties to Christ. Christ is truth and in Him there is no lie. Those who know Him, know Him as Saviour. And as all of us are filled with sinfulness, yet the redeemed do not walk in the vanity of their old mind, but they understand their lost state, the insufficiency of their own righteousness, and seek the salvation of Christ. So hearing the Gospel, a spark has begun a fire in the soul, to put off the old nature, and live in the new. The corrupt nature will not leave by wishing, it is removed by filling the mind with God's word, this allows Christ to reign in a new heart, and He will cover those in His Righteousness which is eternal. And the Spirit will teach and instruct the new heart and mind, to walk in the ways, of God. Changing priorities from the carnal nature, into the spiritual nature, which leads to Christ's kingdom. These people subjected to the Spirit's work of sanctification, will engage themselves in acts of righteousness and holiness. Amen.
