1. And you hath he quickened, who were dead in trespasses and sins;2. Wherein in time past ye walked according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, the spirit that now worketh in the children of disobedience:3. Among whom also we had our conversation in times past in the lusts of our flesh, fulfilling the desires of the flesh and of the mind; and were by nature the children of wrath, even as others.4. But God, who is rich in mercy, for his great love wherewith he loved us, 5. Even when we were dead in sins, hath quickened us together with Christ, (by grace ye are saved;)Ephesians 2:1-5 Paul here magnifies, like putting under a microscope, the grace of Christ, in the calling of sinners, to His grace of salvation. The greatness of God's power, is that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us. Only a dead man is in need to be quickened, meaning revived. Sin is death, no way around it, we are under that penalty, until it is removed by the blood of Christ. The redeemed know, how Christ removed the burden of sin, the guilt, and in its place He came to live with us. I myself know of the mercy of God by firsthand experience, I am ashamed, that I lived in verse 2 and 3. But I have without any reservations, witnessed the mercy of God, by removing, destructive thoughts, words, and actions, and replaced them with an appetite for God's word, a desire to be pleasing to Him, and submission to instruction. For I know very well that I deserve Hell, and I am so glad Christ, showed mercy and grace to me. Every day is an opportunity to show my appreciation, by my obedience to His word. A heart felt Thank π You, to Jesus. Amen.
