While sitting near some beach umbrellas on Nikiti Beach, Greece, Kathleen Quinlan (Cloud Appreciation Society Member 58,232) saw another giant umbrella on the horizon. It is a Cumulonimbus incus, also known as an anvil cloud, backlit by the setting Sun. This is a storm cloud at its most mature stage, and so is bound to be producing massive downpours below. A beach umbrella in Greece can provide much-needed shelter from the elements. Not so for a cloudy umbrella like this one.
