18. The LORD hath chastened me sore: but he hath not given me over unto death.
19. Open to me the gates of righteousness: I will go into them, and I will praise the LORD:
20. This gate of the LORD, into which the righteous shall enter.
21. I will praise thee: for thou hast heard me, and art become my salvation.
22. The stone which the builders refused is become the head stone of the corner.
Psalm 118:18-22
The psalmist as a prophet speaks of himself an others who because of their affliction, became aware of their sinful state, and turned to Christ. Being in the hand of God and not death.
Only the righteous shall enter into eternal life, and we have all come short of the mark. But Christ, who is the door, paid the price for sin, and covers His redeemed in His Righteousness, giving access. Now the psalmist, and all who experience this gift of salvation, shall praise Christ the Lord, because it can be found no where else.
This stone is Christ our Rock, the foundation of His church, rejected by the religious leaders, He has become the most valuable part of the church, for it is through Him, that the church is held together, in an eternal body. Amen.
