10. The preacher sought to find out acceptable words: and that which was written was upright, even words of truth.
11. The words of the wise are as goads, as nails fastened by the masters of assemblies, which are given from one shepherd.
12. And further, by these, my son, be admonished: of making many books there is no end; and much study is a weariness of the flesh.
13. Let us hear the conclusion of the whole matter: Fear God, and keep this commandments: for this is the whole duty of man.
14. For God shall bring every work into judgment, with every secret thing, whether it be good, or whether it be evil.
Ecclesiastes 12:10-14
Solomon sums up the complete knowledge of this book of 12 chapters of wisdom.
In a prophetic way, he speaks of wise words, upright and truthful words. This is the Gospel message. Proof of this the wise words as goads, sharp sticks to move cattle in the direction men tend them to go, move the sinner to Christ, as nails fasten lumber, so the Gospel preached in truth in an assembly, will nail sinners hearts to Christ, which He is mentioned as the One Shepherd. Now there have been many shepherds since the world began, but only one Shepherd, came to save you from your sins.
And here in this life, the reading of many books and study will exhaust you, but the Bible, the Gospel, will transform you and renew the carnal mind.
Finally the conclusion of all wisdom, is to reverence God, be obedient, for this is the duty of all creation.
For not in this life, but in the next will all things be judged. Christ came to be our Savior, if refused in this life, He will take His place as Judge, in the next.
Amen, let it be so, Lord Jesus.
