Thoughts on Today's Verse.... This verse is from the wonderful story of Micaiah and his bravery as God's prophet. Jehoshaphat knew not to trust the counsel of the false prophets from the northern kingdom of Israel. He was adamant that before he involved God's people of Judah in a battle with anyone, his people needed first to seek the counsel of the Lord! This should also be our approach to life. So often, we ask God to bless what we've already decided to do rather than spend time praying, fasting, and in Scripture seeking our Father's will. Let's not rush our decisions. God has promised to lead us with his Spirit (Romans 8:9, 14; Galatians 5:18, 25); so, let's not rush the Spirit's input, or even worse, ignore it and then ask God to bless us anyway!
