17. Fools because of their transgression, and because of their iniquities, are afflicted.18. Their soul abhorreth all manner of meat; and they draw near unto the gates of death.19. Then they cry unto the LORD in their trouble, and he saveth them out of their distresses.20. He sent his word, and healed them, and delivered them from their destructions.Psalm 107:17-20 This word fool is used, because for a continued series of sins, they are afflicted, to turn them from their immoral ways, but it just hardens them. And they refuse instruction. They refuse the spiritual food of the Gospel, and in their misery, draw close to death, and have no care for the future. But some by being afflicted, this word is defined as disciplined by God, are made aware of their end, and turn to Christ. They cry out to the Lord, in their trouble and anguish, and are heard, and saved. The Almighty, sent His Word, in the body of Christ, with the Gospel, and He went about delivering, and healing, by His spoken word. We the redeemed, have been delivered, from our destructions, which are many, this word is defined, as, a pit, a hidden danger, to sink down to the bottom. Christ has paid out debt to sin, and instead of the pit we deserve, He has given us life eternal. Amen.
