///@paulmsmithphotography: From June 2023, an incredible sight in the skies of Oklahoma as this red sprite jellyfish fired over distant storms giving me one of my most detailed captures to date. It is incredible to think of the sheer size of this natural phenomenon. Easily 40 miles across, with the individual streamers collectively equalling thousands of miles in length and filling a massive volume of atmosphere between cloud top and ionosphere. The center of the complex seems to be where energy is concentrated and a fire-like series of streamers glow intensely for about 20 milliseconds.Although this sprite was incredibly large and bright, it was in existence for only the briefest of moments and then gone forever. Just think that they are as unique as the lightning that creates them with no two being identical. Like snowflakes, they are beautiful creations of nature, sculpted by local conditions in one fleeting moment in time. I am offering HD limited edition prints of this , see comments and bio for link. Please remember when you support a small business you're supporting a dream π Buy me a coffee members got exclusive early viewing of this capture
