1905 -1907 Austro-Daimler 4x4 armoured car. Fitted with a 4l 4 cyl 30 hp Daimler engine, leaf springs and diff locks, this was one of the first armourd cars built. Covered in 3-3.5 mm nickle steel and a rotating rear turret. The front wheels were 33” s (83 cm) and the rears 36” (92 cm) with solid rubber. No “airing down” or flats on this baby! Those narrow tyres not so great on the beach either.Never saw service as the army command felt it would “scare the horses”. Fair call really, looks like an angry salt shaker or deranged Dalek.
