1. Paul, a servant of Jesus Christ, called to be an apostle, separated unto the gospel of God,2. (Which he had promised before by his prophets in the holy scriptures,)3. Concerning his Son Jesus Christ our Lord, which was made of the seed of David according to the flesh;4. And declared to be the Son of God with power, according to the spirit of holiness, by the resurrection from the dead:5. By whom we have received grace and apostleship, for obedience to the faith among all nations, for his name: Romans 1:1-5 The author of this letter to the Romans, is Paul, formally Saul, who persecuted followers of Christ. He has been converted by Christ, and taught the gospel by Christ, and not of men. He is Christ's servant, not Satan's, not to sin, not of men, or Moses, nor the traditions of the elders, by redemption, and the unmerited favor of God. He was sent by Christ, and traveled around 10,000 miles, preaching Christ, to the poor and hopeless. This is evidence of his conversion, that he who once persecuted followers of Christ, now preaches, Christ as the Son of God, who was raised from the grave, at the peril of his own life. At this time the insane emperor Nero is in power, these are facts, and not a fairytale. And Christ is still changing men this day. Amen.
