1. Put them in mind to be subject to principalities and powers, to obey magistrates, to be ready to every good work,
2. To speak evil of no man, to be no brawlers, but gentle, shewing all meekness unto all men.
3. For we ourselves also were sometimes foolish, disobedient, deceived, serving divers lusts and pleasures, living in malice and envy, hateful, and hating one another.
4. But after the kindness and love of God our Saviour toward man appeared,
5. Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to his mercy he saved us, by the washing of regeneration, and renewing of the Holy Ghost;
6. Which he shed on us abundantly through Jesus Christ our Saviour;
7. That being justified by his grace, we should be made heirs according to the hope of eternal life.
Titus 3:1-7 ??
Paul instructs Titus, to remind Christ's followers to mind those that govern, as long as they do not contradict the laws of God.
To be peaceful, obedient, not to disturb, civil government, churches, neighborhoods, or families, this would be unbecoming, to any followers of Christ.
For we were of this sort, before Christ, bestowed on us, His grace, and salvation.
Which is a gift, and cannot be obtained by works.
What we possess, what we have in the Spirit, is by the mercy of God.
As sinners, we were enemies of God, now the blood of Christ, and the Word of the Gospel, has cleansed us, as the washing of a garment, and we are not left as such, but are made new, in justification, (just as if I never sinned) and sanctification, (the process by which the Holy Ghost, sets us apart, and helps us to become holy).
This grace, is without measure, and cannot be depleted.
It comes forth, through Christ, and there is salvation in no other. Amen.
