1. Preserve me, O God: for in thee do I put my trust.
2. O my soul, thou hast said unto the LORD, Thou art my Lord: my goodness extended not to thee;
3. But to the saints that are in the earth, and to the excellent, in whom is all my delight.
4. Their sorrows shall be multiplied that hasten after another god: their drink offerings of blood will I not offer, nor take up their names into my lips.
5. The LORD is the portion of mine inheritance and of my cup: thou maintainest my lot.
6. The lines are fallen unto me in pleasant places; yea, I have a goodly heritage.
Psalm 16:1-6πŸ™πŸ»
The psalmist speaks prophetically of Christ. Christ can put His trust in no one but His Father.
The self-sufficient One, the Almighty God, His goodness is above all, but Christ says, His goodness, comes from the Almighty.
But Christ's goodness extends to the sanctified saints, who sins have been covered in Christ's blood, and being sanctified by the Holy Ghost.
The LORD is Christ's portion for ever, and all the redeemed are Christ's inheritance from His Father.
The lines are fallen, this is a picture of divided land, and the owner.
The church, and all who are covered in Christ's Righteousness, are His portion, so they are pleasant, and He takes delight in them. Amen.
