Laurie Harden Ricardi (Cloud Appreciation Society Member 3,660) spotted this Altocumulus lenticularis cloud formation over Gardnerville, Nevada, US. She compared it to a ‘delicious dollop of whipped cream’. Sunlight passing through the thinner edges of the cloud was scattered by the tiny, consistently-sized water droplets to create pastel hues known as cloud iridescence. Consider them a side-helping of sprinkles to go with the cream.
