9. Hide thy face from my sins, and blot out all mine iniquities.
10. Create in me a clean heart, O God; and renew a right spirit within me.
11. Cast me not away from thy presence; and take not thy holy spirit from me.
12. Restore unto me the joy of thy salvation; and uphold me with thy free spirit.
13. Then will I teach transgressors thy ways; and sinners shall be converted unto thee.
Psalm 51:9-13
The psalmist, teaches, where to go, when we have separate ourselves from God with sin.
King David, writes this song under the burden of sin.
He looks for mercy from God, he does not run from God. He looks for complete cleansing, and pardon, looking for forgiveness.
Sin cannot be hid from God, but through Christ, it is covered, and removed from His sight.
The psalmist seeks a new heart, "bara" in Hebrew, means create out of nothing, we were not born with a clean heart, Jeremiah 17:9-
The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked: who can know it? God can and will create in us a new heart, to all who seek and follow Him, but we must confess and repent, first.
The word create first seen in Genesis 1, where the Lord, created the heaven and earth, and light, the earth, and water, out of nothing, He spoke it into being.
And Christ, has given, Himself, so our debt to sin is paid in full, we have been pardoned, and declared, not guilty, Christ, has restored, what we lost in sin, the fullness of joy, in the salvation of God. Amen.
