1. Blessed is he whose transgression is forgiven, whose sin is covered.
2. Blessed is the man unto whom the LORD imputeth not iniquity, and in whose spirit there is no guile.
3. When I kept silence, my bones waxed old through my roaring all the day long.
4. For day and night thy hand was heavy upon me: my moisture is turned into the drought of summer. Selah.
5. I acknowledge my sin unto thee, and mine iniquity have I not hid. I said, I will confess my transgressions unto the LORD; and thou forgavest the iniquity of my sin. Selah.
Psalm 32:1-5
That the psalmist knew Christ, is evident here.
The song is named, "instruction" whereby, we are taught, through confession, the sin is taken off, and forgiveness takes its place.
Now forgiveness is the removal of sin, guilt, and punishment. It has been removed and put on Christ, who paid with suffering and blood our debt.
It can never be put to our account, being paid, and we declared not guilty.
It is the Righteousness of Christ that covers us, for ours is but filthy rags, before the Almighty.
He who hides his sin shall not prosper.
But to acknowledge it before God, our corrupt nature, our private sins, which cannot be hid from God, and every vile thing we have done, the psalmist calls them, sin, iniquity, transgressionsall rebellion against God's law.
Christ has removed the curse of the law, which is death, and has given pardon and forgiveness, by the grace and mercy of God. And given us eternal life, with Him.
Do not refuse this glorious gift. Christ has never turned a sinner away from salvation, He knows we are but dust, here today, gone tomorrow. Amen.
