We have been programmed. These plants are all native to my State (Oklahoma). If I let my yard grow it would look a little like this, which I think is beautiful! I have been programmed to kill all the native plants and keep a proper yard of grass. So, I mow native plants down and kill them with chemicals. The chemicals I apply can't be good for the bees or my own water supply, right? I also consume more water to keep my lawn green. Is this system all about money? Think about how much money companies make just from us keeping up our lawns. The landscaping companies doing the dirt work and laying the sod or seed. The chemical companies selling us the weed and feed every year. The flower and plant companies selling us the items for our yards and flower beds. The water company selling you extra water just to maintain it all every month. Let me throw a curve ball at you too! What if all of the chemicals we use are actually making us sick? They do leech into the water supply right? Into the air we breath? If the chemicals make us sick, the medical and pharmaceutical make money too, right? I have to tell you that I did mow when I was living in the country, but I didn't kill off the native plants with chemicals. I actually promoted dandelion growth by helping spread the seeds. Dandelions are edible and I could walk out into my yard and pick a salad anytime I wanted. We now have a house in the City and I keep my yard to the standard that I have been programmed to. Is it possible to get society to think natural again? What are your thoughts?
