2. Thou hast forgiven the iniquity of thy people, thou hast covered all their sin. Selah.3. Thou hast taken away all thy wrath: thou hast turned thyself from the fierceness of thine anger.4. Turn us, O God of our salvation, and cause thine anger toward us to cease.5. Wilt thou be angry with us for ever? wilt thou draw out thine anger to all generations?6. Wilt thou not revive us again: that thy people may rejoice in thee? Psalm 85:2-6ππ» The psalmist speaks of Christ, who took the whole punishment for our iniquities. It is because of Christ we have forgiveness. This word forgiven means taken away, Christ has removed our iniquities, and covered our sins in His blood. The wrath of God, and the punishment for sin, has been pacified. Christ has turned us from destruction, and in it's place has given life eternal. God cannot see sin that is covered, so His anger has ceased. Now think on this, only a dead person needs to be revived, and what person, would fail to give praise, being brought back from death. We have been restored to life, by Christ, let us live for Him. Amen.
