5. Many, O LORD my God, are thy wonderful works which thou has done, and thy thoughts which are to us-ward: they cannot be reckoned up in order unto thee: if I would declare and speak of them, they are more than can be numbered.6. Sacrifice and offering thou didst not desire; mine ears hast thou opened: burnt offering and sin offering hast thou not required.7. Then said I, Lo, I come: in the volume of the book it is written of me,8. I delight to do thy will, O my God: yea, thy law is within my heart.9. I have preached righteousness in the great congregation: lo, I have not refrained my lips, O LORD, thou knowest. Psalm 40:5-9 The psalmist speaks prophetically of Christ, in this Song. The wonderful works here described are, the incarnation of Christ, His redemption of sinners, His resurrection from death, His ascension to heaven, and His ability to keep His saints from evil, until He brings them home. Sacrifice and offerings, cannot purge away sin. They were a picture of Christ, who was the perfect atonement. And Christ is the only acceptable payment for sin. All through the word of God, you can see Christ, spoken of. The obedient Son, perfect, the only man, to fulfill the law, whose mission was to save men from sin and destruction, and this Christ did, to the very end. Christ preached the Gospel, to all who would listen, it is by His Righteousness, we enter into His kingdom, and the Father is pleased with Christ's work. Amen π .
