1. I love the LORD, because he hath heard my voice and my supplications.2. Because he has inclined his ear unto me, therefore will I call upon him as long as I live.3. The sorrows of death compassed me, and the pain of hell gat hold upon me: I found trouble and sorrow.4. Then called I upon the name of the LORD; O LORD, I beseech thee, deliver my soul.5. Gracious is the LORD, and righteous; yea, our God is merciful.Psalm 116:1-5 I spend a lot of time in Psalms, because the psalmist knew Christ as Savior, a thousand years before Christ was born. This is not fortune telling, but God, revealing the end of a matter before the beginning. The psalmist loved Christ as the Messiah, Creator, Savior, Redeemer. The man after God's own heart, was heard by God. The Christ who formed the ear, also hears His own. The psalmist knew sorrow, not as Christ experienced in the garden, but he knew that he needed Christ. Oh if we all could be so wise. His trust in forgiveness and pardon, was solely on Christ. The psalmist was delivered many times in his life, for his faith was in God hearing his pleas. And this is how, by personal experience, he can hold fast his claim, that Christ, God the Son, is merciful and compassionate. Amen.
