76. And thou, child, shalt be called the prophet of the Highest: for thou shalt go before the face of the Lord to prepare his ways;
77. To give knowledge of salvation unto his people by the remission of their sins,
78. Through the tender mercy of our God; whereby the dayspring from on high hath visited us,
79. To give light to them that sit in darkness and in the shadow of death, to guide our feet into the way of peace.
Luke 1:76-79
In Luke's gospel, he brings to remembrance, Isaiah 40:3, which speaks of John the Baptist, 700 years before Christ's birth.
The prophet of Christ, going before Him, to give knowledge of salvation, by repentance from sin, preparing the people, for Christ.
Through the mercy of Christ, we have forgiveness, and pardon, from sin, and we shall not find it in anyone else.
Where light is, no darkness can be.
Christ is the Light of the world, the Light shines in us, filled with the darkness of sin, deserving death, and He gives us life.
Restoring peace with God, which was lost, we now have spiritual peace here, an eternal peace hereafter. Amen.
