Are We the Generation That Will See the End Times?
https://imgflip.com/i/7dki8t
The Bible uses the term generation in some different ways. Normally, the word generation refers to all the people living at the same time—i.e., the word in the Bible has the same definition that we are used to in modern usage when we speak of Generation X or the Millennial Generation. Normally, a generation is about thirty years; one generation raises the next. However, in some biblical contexts, a “generation” can refer to a longer age or a group of people spanning a longer period of time.
Matt. 24:33-34 “So likewise ye, when ye shall see all these things, know that my coming is near, even at the doors. Verily I say unto you, This generation shall not pass, till all these things be fulfilled”.
Could it be any Other Generation?
Jesus’ message was carefully addressed to one specific generation, somewhere in time, a generation to which His fig tree reference would make sense. That generation had to be able to identify the time in which it lived to the exclusion of all others. And Jesus defines a generation in a manner unique to Scripture. He says that the generation alive at the time of the rebirth of Israel will still be around at the Second Advent (the return of Christ).
Not 40 years, or three score and ten years, or even 120 years. He put it simply. If you were around in 1948, then, barring being hit by a bus, or run down by a runaway shopping cart, you can expect to be around to see all these things. All of them.
The average lifespan of an adult, male or female is around 75-80 years.
According to the CDC, the average life expectancy is:
Both sexes: 76.4 years
Males: 73.5 years
Females: 79.3 years
Bearing in mind that those who were born the day Israel again became a nation, [May 14, 1948] they would be 75 years old this year. Depending on your perspective, this should give you an idea of how much time the people on earth have to repent before Christ's return.
TODAY is the day of salvation. NOW is the accepted time. (paraphrased in modern English.)
2 Corinthians 6:2
"For he saith, I have heard thee in a time accepted, and in the day of salvation have I succoured thee: behold, now is the accepted time; behold, now is the day of salvation." (KJV) KIng James Version
