1. Out of the depths have I cried unto thee, O LORD.
2. LORD, hear my voice: let thine ears be attentive to the voice of my supplications.
3. If thou, LORD, shouldest mark iniquities, O LORD, who shall stand?
4. But there is forgiveness with thee, that thou mayest be feared.
5. I wait for the LORD, my soul doth wait, and in his word do I hope.
Psalm 130:1-5
The psalmist cries out to the Lord, out of the depth of sin, which has become a prison, a prison made of the law, there is no mercy, only guilty, or innocent.
Man cannot extricate himself from the guilt or punishment of sin. Yet the psalmist teaches, that there is mercy in God, pardon, and forgiveness.
God has supplied all this, that men may come and escape the destruction of sin, by Christ the Lord.
Those who wait on God, shall never be disappointed. The soul that waits on God, shall have an eternal reward.
There is great hope in the Gospel message, for it is impossible for God to lie, and ever promise of God is true. Amen.
