1. I love the LORD, because he hath heard my voice and my supplications.
2. Because he hath inclined his ear unto me, therefore will I call upon him as long as I live.
3. The sorrows of death compassed me, and the pains of hell gat hold upon me: I found trouble and sorrow.
4. Then called I upon the name of the LORD; O LORD, I beseech thee, deliver my soul.
5. Gracious is the LORD, and righteous; yea, our God is merciful.
6. The LORD preserveth the sample: I was brought low, and he helped me.
Psalm 116:1-6
The psalmist reveals his love for Christ the Messiah, because, unlike an idol, the Lord heard him.
The Lord made a point of hearing, and David put his confidence in Christ.
This is revealed, when David contemplates his end, and what his sins deserve, and he finds no comfort, just turmoil.
Then he calls on Christ, to deliver his soul.
He understood that there is no other place he can go.
The gracious Christ, took our sins and covered them in His blood, never to be remembered ever. Now clothed in Christ's Righteousness, we have peace with the Almighty.
Christ the author of our salvation, the giver of grace and mercy, a very present help in time of trouble, gave everything, even His own life, for us.
The Lord protects the simple, we submit, because we have not the mind of God, nor His understanding, we have not His wisdom nor strength, but a simple man who puts all his trust in Christ will never be disappointed, and never abandon. Amen
