8. The LORD is merciful and gracious, slow to anger, and plenteous in mercy.
9. He will not always chide: neither will he keep his anger for ever.
10. He hath not dealt with us after our sins; nor rewarded us according to our iniquities.
11. For as the heaven is high above the earth, so great is his mercy toward them that fear him.
12. As far as the east is from the west, so far hath he removed our transgressions from us.
Psalm 103:8-12
The psalmist clearly has a relationship with Christ. In these 5 verses, he, declares the character of God, merciful, gracious, slow to anger, full of mercy, towards sinners.
God through Christ has cease to hold us guilty, therefore His anger is appeased, by Christ's blood.
Death is the punishment for sin, yet God did not strike us down, in the middle of our rebellious acts.
Nor did He destroy us at their completion.
For all who reverence Christ, and His atonement, they cannot begin to measure the mercy of God, directed to them.
As east and west move in opposite directions, God, through Christ, has sent our sins out of His sight, He has removed them, because of Christ's blood. He now declares us not guilty, so who could ever put a punishment on us, Satan might accuse, but he has no power to punish.
But those who continue in their transgressions, have refused, Christ, and His mercy. Amen.
