1. Have mercy upon me, O God, according to thy loving-kindness: according unto the multitude of thy tender mercies blot out my trans-gressions.2. Wash me thoroughly from my iniquity, and cleanse me from my sin.3. For I acknowledge my trans-gressions: and my sin is ever before me.4. Against thee, thee only, have I sinned, and done the evil in thy sight: that thou mayest be justified when thou speakest, and be clear when thou judgest. Psalm 51:1-4 The psalmist reveals many truths, in these four verses. First it is only God, and because of His mercy in Christ, that sin is blotted out, leaving no residue. Sin is washed throughly, completely, in Christ's blood, there is no plan B, the only acceptable sacrifice for sin is Christ's blood. Sin is removed because of confessing and repentance, you confess you sin to God, and walk the other direction, you do not return to sinning, or you again return to judgement. Sin is a refusal to follow God's laws. Amen.
