1. Whosoever believeth that Jesus is the Christ is born of God: and every one that loveth him that begat loveth him also that is begotten of him.2. By this we know that we love the children of God, when we love God, and keep his command-ments.3. For this is the love of God, that we keep his command-ments: and his command-ments are not grievous.4. For whatsoever is born of God overcometh the world: and this is the victory that overcometh the world, even our faith.5. Who is he that overcometh the world, but he that believeth that Jesus is the son of God?1 John 5:1-5 Believing that Jesus is the Christ, is believing that He is the Messiah, the Anointed One, who came to save us from sin. Those who refuse Him, will die in their sins. To be born of God is to take on His nature, becoming an heir of God. Turning from sin, and looking forward to eternal life, if we do not turn away, we bring shame on the name of Christ, for we that love Him, will trust Him to show us victory over sin. Now at a time in my life that victory seemed so far away, but I kept reading my Bible every day, and sins that overtook me so easily, because my love for Jesus grew strong and I did not want to fail Him, and make His death meaningless. I found strength in Christ. Thatgave me power to resist Satan and every filthy, dishonest, sin, that was destroying me. We are not yet perfect but we are no longer living a life of sin. Some of you know this experience, and it brings peace. Christ is God in the flesh, but He overcame sin, while He was in a human body, in so much He sweat blood in the garden before His death, that He could be our Saviour from death. Amen.
