1. Simon Peter, a servant and an apostle of Jesus Christ, to them that have obtained like precious faith with us through the righteousness of God and our Saviour Jesus Christ:2. Grace and peace be multiplied unto you through the knowledge of God, and of Jesus our Lord,3. According as his divine power hath given unto us all things that pertain unto life and godliness, through the knowledge of him that hath called us to glory and virtue:4. Whereby are given unto us exceedingly great and precious promises: that by these ye might be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust.2 Peter 1:1-4 ππ» Simon the name given the apostle by his parents, and Peter, given him by Christ, at his conversion. Peter meaning stone, this stone has as it's foundation the Rock, which is Christ, and as he says, he is the servant of Christ, God, the Lord. Who obtained this precious faith, through the Righteousness of Christ. And those having this knowledge, will have grace and peace with God. Showing that Christ's power was divine, and every gift given, for life, in this world and the next, because the knowledge of Christ will lead to godliness, being called by His Gospel, filled with His glory and virtue. That through His exceedingly great promises, we may be partakers of His divine nature, having put behind us, the fraudulent conduct that lust brings into the world. This word lust used here in Greek, means, a desire for what is forbidden. Now we know all sin is forbidden, and Christ has delivered us from it's power and curse, for ever. Amen.
