Debunking Flat Earth Theory: Flat Earthers Deny We Ever Put a Man on the MoonI can debunk that idea personally. That goofy looking Apollo 15 lunar rover which looks like a poorly built golf cart, is actually very high tech. Where Neil Armstrong landed was likely to have been close to the average temperature of the moon's surface, which is -20℃. or -68 degrees Fahrenheit.All-season rubber compounds stiffen as temperatures drop. By the time they drop below 45 degrees, they start to lose traction which makes braking, acceleration and cornering less reliable and more difficult. At -68 degrees they become brittle and can explode because they are no longer flexible. This is why NASA went to all the major tire manufacturers in the world for a rubber formula that would not freeze solid at -68F. Only one of them took NASA up on it. It was Goodyear. The only tires in the world that are on the moon have Goodyear written all over them.NASA however, insisted Goodyear couldn't use this to promote their products because it would give them an unequal and unfair advantage over all of their competitors. The only reason I know this is because once upon a time I worked for Goodyear as a commercial tire sales representative, and one of their R&D (Research and Development) guys told me about it.This is also why more Goodyear tires are sold in northern Canada and Alaska than any other tire brand. Goodyear used the technology they used to create the antifreeze effect in the Moon Rover tires and put it into the Goodyear Wrangler and Wrangler A/T tires. You don't need studs with them, because they remain flexible at subzero temperatures. You may have also heard of the Kelly-Springfield Ice & Snow radials? Same difference, because Kelly-Springfield is owned by Goodyear. If you buy a Kelly-Springfield tire, you are basically buying a generic Goodyear. This is also why most law enforcement agencies in the United States prefer this compound in their police pursuit vehicles. The rubber compound enables them to stop and turn on a dime, even on icy pavement and wet pavement as well. It does create a problem however, when the tires are used in the summer, because they will wear out faster than their other premium lines will. But if it is a question of safety you are concerned with, you cannot find a better tire than a Goodyear that contains this rubber compound.https://imgflip.com/i/721xwk

The "tires" used in the lunar rover were wire mesh. No rubber on them at all.

The Goodyear tires that were designed for the MET cart (aka rickshaw) were rubber. The rickshaw was a cart about the size of a two wheeled wheelbarrow.
