2. Thou hast forgiven the iniquity of thy people, thou hast covered all their sin. Selah. Thou hast taken away all thy wrath: thou hast turned thyself from the fierceness of thine anger.4. Turn us, O God of our salvation, and cause thine anger toward us to cease.5. Wilt thou be angry with us for ever? wilt thou draw out thine anger to all generations?6. Wilt thou not revive us again: that thy people may rejoice in thee?7. Shew us thy mercy, O LORD, and grant us thy salvation.Psalm 85:2-7 ππ» Truly the psalmist was acquainted with Christ. For he speaks about sin, already forgiven, and covered. God's wrath against sin, already passified. The anger of God Almighty, turned to Mercy. We must be turned towards Christ, or we will be destroyed in our sin. Christ has paid our debt to sin, we are restored to God, and this is offered to our offspring. To revive, is to bring back to life, we were dead in sin, before Christ. The psalmist has this revelation 536 years before the birth of Christ. Yet clearly knows Him, asking for mercy, and salvation, for himself, and God's people. Amen.
