7. For God hath not given us the spirit of fear, but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.
8. Be not thou therefore ashamed of the testimony of our Lord, nor of me his prisoner: but be thou partaker of the afflictions of the gospel according to the power of God; 9. Who hath saved us, and called us with an holy calling, not according to our works, but according to his own purpose and grace, which was given us in Christ Jesus before the world began,
10. But is now made manifest by the appearing of our Saviour Jesus Christ, who hath abolished death, and hath brought life and immortality to light through the gospel:
2 Timothy
1:7-10 πŸ™πŸ»
Paul encourages Timothy, to stir up the gift of the Spirit, which was given him from God.
Not a spirit of fear and terror, but of power, this word in Greek is, dynamis, we get dynamo, and dynamite, it is defined as, power residing in a thing, or person, which exerts force. The word love, is agape, in Greek, it is defined as affection, good will, brotherly love. Sound mind, sophronismos, in Greek, meaning, self control, discipline.
These are gifts we are not born with, but are freely given, by the Spirit of God, when we have been regenerated by Christ's blood.
We shall have no fear of men, but will welcome all afflictions that come with sharing the Gospel message .
For Christ gave His life for us, it is no small thing that we should live to Him.
For Christ removed us from darkness, and death, has made available, eternal life, through the Gospel. Amen.
