1. I charge thee therefore before God, and the Lord Jesus Christ, who shall judge the quick and the dead at his appearing and his kingdom;2. Preach the word; be instant in season, out of season, reprove, rebuke, exhort with all long suffering and doctrine.3. For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itchy ears;4. And they shall turn away their ears from the truth, and shall be turned unto fables.5. But watch thou in all things, endure afflictions, do the work of an evangelist, make full proof of the ministry.6. For I am now ready to be offered, and the time of my departure is at hand.7. I have fought a good fight, I finished my course, I have kept the faith:2 Timothy 4:1-7 Paul is near the end of his life, and his main concern is that his understudy Timothy, preaches the Gospel, the inspired Word of God. On Christ's return, He shall judge the "quick" and the "dead," the quick, those alive, living according to the Gospel, and awaiting Christ's return, and the dead, those that have already passed, but belong to Christ. Timothy was to preach without restrictions, and as Paul he would suffer for the Gospel. For it is now in our time, that many refuse instruction, and pursue their sins, and support teachers, that teach sin, and mock the Gospel of Salvation. Paul encourages Timothy, to do the work set out before him, using the gifts of the Spirit, to prove, the message is from God, and not of men. Paul is getting very close to his time, and he has this testimony, that all he has been through, and even his coming death, that he did not lose faith, he finished his life, with Christ at the helm, and he fought against spiritual wickedness to the end. Amen.
