16. Come and hear, all ye that fear God, and I will declare what he hath done for my soul.17. I cried unto him with my mouth, and he was extolled with my tongue.18. If I regard iniquity in my heart, the Lord will not hear me:19. But verily God hath heard me; he hath attended to the voice of my prayer.Psalm 66:16-19 The psalmist bids all who have a reverential affection for God, to come and hear what He has done for the preservation of his soul. David had a covenant with Christ, his soul being saved, he is set apart for God. All his sins are pardoned, being justified in Christ, he is adopted into the family of God. The psalmist shares with us, by His own experience, that we have the same opportunity. He cried to the Lord, prayed for deliverance, and was heard. If we delight in sin, and keep it in practice, you cannot expect the Lord's attention, for you have chosen which side you are on. But to the repentant sinner, God shall not only hear, but shall take action on your behalf. For to the repentant sinner, God's mercy endures for ever through Christ. Amen.
