16. Wash you, make you clean; put away the evil of your doings from before my eyes; cease to do evil;17. Learn to do well; seek judgment, relieve the oppressed, judge the fatherless, plead for the widow.18. Come now, and let us reason together, saith the LORD: though your sins be a scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they be red like crimson, they shall be as wool.19. If ye be willing and obedient, ye shall eat the good of the land:20. But if ye refuse and rebel, ye shall be devoured with the sword: for the mouth of the LORD hath spoken it.Isaiah 1:16-20 The words here are the LORD'S and not of men. Wash, clean, this is to make one aware of being defiled by sin. Isaiah, written 800 years before Christ's birth, showing the Lord's concern for our soul. As hard as we try, we cannot purge the evil in us. Nor with all our strength can we make us clean, from the judgment of sin. This is only accomplished with the blood of Christ. God's word is how we learn to do well, it is how the mind is renewed to follow God's ways. Listen to God's instructions to come to Christ, every sin, and transgression, is removed, the stain of sin washed away with Christ's purifying blood. Be willing, be obedient, for Christ, is worthy of our service. But for all who refuse, who continue in disobedience, there is left, only the sword of judgment, and destruction, and it is sure. Amen.
