15. Oh that men would praise the LORD for his goodness, and for his wonderful works to the children of men!16. For he hath broken the gates of brass, and cut the bars of iron in sunder.17. Fools because of their transgression, and because of their iniquities, are afflicted.18. Their soul abhorreth all manner of meat; and they draw near unto the gates of death.19. Then they cry unto the LORD in their trouble, and he saveth them out of their distresses.20. He sent his word, and healed them, and delivered them from their destructions. Psalm107: 15-20 ππ» The psalmist prophetically speaks of the condition of men without Christ. He urges that men would confess to the Lord, His goodness and mercy. For Christ through the work of the cross, has removed all obstructions, and is able to deliver all from Satan, sin, and death. Fools are afflicted not because of one transgression, but for a continued series of sinning, making it their lifestyle. They abhor the sweet food of the Gospel, and are brought to the gates of death. And in their affection they cry to the Lord, for His sparing mercy, and pardoning grace. Christ the Word, was sent, and came willingly, when He was here He healed with a word, the physical body, and on the cross, He healed the soul, with the pardon of sin. Sin brings distresses, and destruction, and Christ alone, is the cure. Amen.
