1. Out of the depths have I cried unto thee, O LORD.
2. Lord, hear my voice: let thine ears be attentive to the voice of my supplications.
3. If thou, LORD, shouldest mark iniquities, O Lord, who shall stand?
4. But there is forgiveness with thee, that thou mayest be feared.
5. I wait for the Lord, my soul, doth wait, and in his word do I hope.
Psalm 130:1-5
Out of the depths of sin, the psalmist pleads for the Lord's mercy and forgiveness.
For sin is pictured as the sea, having no bottom, and never full.
Christ having fulfilled the payment for sin, has removed any recollection of sins.
For without Christ none shall stand before God seeking good.
But with a dread no one has known until this time.
This precious soul that Christ gave His life for, waits for Christ's return, and the redeemed trust in the Lord, for He is truth, and faithful, and our mediator.
God's word is sure, never misleading, bold and powerful, to know it, is to know God. And knowing what He has done for you, will bring a loving reverence, for the Living God.
Amen.
