17. Fools because of their transgression, and because of their iniquities, are afflicted.18. Their soul abhorreth all manner of meat; and they draw near unto the gates of death.19. Then they cry unto the LORD in their trouble, and he saveth them out of their distresses.20. He sent his word, and healed them, and delivered them from their destructions.21. Oh that men would praise the LORD for his goodness, and for his wonderful works to the children of men! Psalm 107: 17-21 ππ» The word fool here denotes an immoral person, having no understanding of the reverence to God, they scoff at God, and make a mock at sin. The soul of man cannot be fed with common food, it must be nourished, by the word of God, and the Gospel of Christ. All men live in an afflicted condition before being redeemed. It is Christ the living Word, that was sent to restore, heal, pardon, the souls of men. For living in sin, brings affliction, and destructions, in this life, and eternal destruction, in the life to come. It was Christ's pleasure to come in the form of a man, and take the price of sin in His own body, that we might be free. And those who have been redeemed, have no problem, nor hesitation, in praising the Lord, for His goodness and mercy. Amen.
