11. And the night following the Lord stood by him, and said, Be of good cheer, Paul: for as thou has testified of me in Jerusalem, so must thou bear witness also at Rome.12. And when it was day, certain of the Jews banded together, and bound themselves under a curse, saying that they would neither eat nor drink till they had killed Paul.13. And they were more than forty which had made this conspiracy.Acts 23:11-13 Paul is brought before the ruling body of the Jews, the Sanhedrin. And pleading his cause, set a division between the Pharisees and the Sadducees. The Pharisees which Paul was acquainted, believe in angels, and spirits, and the resurrection, but the Sadducees refuse to believe. Now after his speech he is put back in prison. This is the person who persecuted the followers of Christ, with death and imprisonment. The Lord Christ appeared to Paul at his conversion, and appeared to him also again, being a chosen vessel unto Christ's work. And his fellow countrymen who helped him persecute the church, now seek to murder him, as they did Christ. This is how the world deals with believers, because you show that their way is perverse. Your very own shall turn against you. Amen.
