17. And there was delivered unto him the book of the prophet Esaias. And when he had opened the book, he found the place where it was written,
18. The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he hath anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor; he hath sent me to heal the brokenhearted, to preach deliverance to the captives, and recovering of the sight to the blind, to set at liberty them that are bruised,
19. To preach the acceptable year of the Lord.
20. And he closed the book, and gave it again to the minister, and sat down. And the eyes of all them that were in the synagogue were fastened on him.
21. And he began to say unto them, this day is the scripture fulfilled in your ears.
Luke 4:17-22 πŸ™πŸ»
Christ in the synagogue is handed the lesson to read, He opens the scroll to Isaiah 61:1, and reads, what is in verse 18.
Christ was filled with the Spirit without measure, in the form of a man, to preach deliverance to all who are bound in sin, to give sight to the spiritually blind, to give light to those lost in darkness, to proclaim the year of the Lord, meaning the time, which was fixed for Christ to come, and reveal God's plan of salvation.
Rolling up the scroll, He tells them, this scripture is fulfilled in their ears.
And they believed the prophecy, but not that Jesus was the Messiah, our Savior.
And the same day before the service was over, in Luke
4:29, they try to throw Christ off a cliff.
Now today, in your heart, who do you say, Christ is?
There is no other salvation in all of creation, but in Christ the Lord, God's Son.
Hallelujah.
