1. And all the congregation their voice, and cried; and the people wept that night.
2. And all the children of Israel murmured against Moses and against Aaron: and the whole congregation said unto them, Would God that we had died in the land of Egypt! or would God we had died in this wilderness!
3. And wherefore hath the LORD brought us into this land, to fall by the sword, that our wives and our children should be a prey?were it not better for us to return into Egypt?
3. And they said one to another, Let us make a captain, and let us return into Egypt.
Numbers 14:1-4
Man has not changed one bit, since the chosen people traveled through the desert.
They were told to go up and possess the land, but they feared the people rather than trusting God.
Here they provoked God, by returning to the bondage of sin, that Egypt represents. How many of us do the same today.
What foolishness to desire death in Egypt or the wilderness, instead of living in the blessings of the Lord.
Each of us has to make a decision, will we turn our backs, and travel back to the slavery and destruction of sin. Or do we trust the Savior, knowing, He knows what is best for us, seeing He died so we might live.
Following Christ is not easy or everyone would do it.
But you will find no greater reward in all of the Universe. Amen.
