26. And as they were eating, Jesus took bread, and blessed it, and brake it, and gave it to the disciples, and said, Take, eat; this is my body.27. And he took the cup, and gave thanks, and gave it to them, saying, Drink ye all of it; 28. For this is my blood of the new testament, which is shed for many for the remission of sins. Matthew 26:26-28 ππ» Here our Lord Jesus, after finishing the passover meal, for the last time with His disciples, institutes the Lord's supper for the first time. By the bread being broken we are reminded what the price of pardoning our sin cost, Christ was whipped and beaten, before His death, suffering like no other. The cup is to remind us, without the shedding of blood there is no remission of sin. Christ suffered and died in our place. It is something the Father does not take lightly. For Christ once and for all of time: by His obedience, procured full forgiveness of sin, and satisfied the law of God, for all transgressions. Therefore it is not to much to ask, that if we follow Christ, we must remain obedient, to all He asks of us. Amen π
