Winter Storm Amelia will linger across the region this morning, with a period of moderate to heavy snow expected over northeast and east-central Wisconsin. Snowfall rates may reach 1 to 2 inches per hour at times in those locations. Wind gusts will increase to 30 to 45 mph over the entire forecast area, which will lead to blowing and drifting snow. Therefore, hazardous travel conditions will be slow to improve after the snow tapers off by early afternoon. A Winter Storm Warning remains in effect for north-central and much of central and northeast Wisconsin.
