12. Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us,2. Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God.3. For consider him that endured such contradictions of sinners against himself, lest ye be wearied and faint in your minds.4. Ye have not yet resisted unto blood, striving against sin.5. And ye have forgotten the exhortation which speaketh unto you as unto children, My son, despise not thou the chastening of the Lord, nor faint when thou art rebuked of him:6. For whom the Lord loveth he chasteneth, and scourgeth every son whom he receiveth.Hebrews 12:1-6ππ» Those of the faithful that have gone before us, suffering the cause of the testimony of God, surround us with the witness, that Christ is true. And because of love for us, He endured the cross for our sake. We need to set aside, leave behind, every sin, that would separate us from Him. This life, is spoken of as a race, because it moves, swiftly, and the end comes sooner than expected. Luke 22:44, speaks of Christ in agony of what was set before Him, sweat His own blood. Christ having given all of Himself, for us, holding nothing back, we owe Him, to turn from our sin, and walk in His steps. We in this world receive correction from our elders, shall we not receive it from the Lord, whose main purpose is to establish us in holiness. We shall not enter into the promise, clinging fast to the filthy garments of our sins. These must be cast away, sin holds fast, and must flung far away from us, then we may put on the Righteousness of Christ, given to all who receive Him as Lord, King, Savior. Amen.
