The minimum wage is $0.Those who do not work, do not eat. This is true in any model, which is exactly why socialists and communists actively kill the inefficient, the sick, the elderly, and dissidents. In capitalism there are charities and tough love to motivate those who do not work to be productive again. In socialism government is too bureaucratic and filled with red tape for such safety nets. Ask every socialist regime in recent history, they kill people who are in the way.

What should set the rate is the skill level of the work. Thats called competition.
A person in the mill should certainly make a living wage, but a cashier at Sears, come now! You want cheap products, you buy junk from China yet you expect a cashier to make $20 an hour. Can't have it both ways.
