1. And Jesus being full of the Holy Ghost returned from Jordan, and was led by the Spirit into the wilderness,
2. Being forty days tempted of the devil. And in those days he did eat nothing: and when they were ended, he afterward hunkered.
3. And the devil said unto him, If thou be the Son of God, command this stone that it be made bread.
4. And Jesus answered him, saying, It is written, That man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word of God.
Luke 4:1-4 ??
Jesus being full of the Holy Ghost, which descended on Him, at His baptism. His human self, being filled with the gifts, to perform His great work, in public ministry.
Jesus is tempted, day and night, for forty days, some know that the night, has temptations, that out weigh those of the day.
After these days of temptations, the devil appears in person, Saying, "If thou be the Son of God."
He very well knew, Jesus was the Son, because Jesus, spoke everything, into creation, and thinking he had advantage because Jesus was now hungry, he knew Jesus could speak to the stone, and it would be bread.
Not to mention, when Jesus was being baptized, the devil heard the Father say, "This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased." Matthew 3:17.
Now Jesus answering, tells the devil, that bread without the blessing of God, to nourish the body, the bread would have no value. Therefore we are taught to depend on God, for every need, for it is our Creator, who supplies our ever need, and every blessing comes from above. The devil is a thief, who would steal eternal life, a murderer, who would kill you, if you were not covered by Christ's blood, and a destroyer, of anyone, who refuses the Grace of God, through, Christ. Amen.
