1. O LORD, rebuke me not in thine anger, neither chasten me in thy hot displeasure.2. Have mercy upon me, O LORD; for I am weak: O LORD, heal me; for my bones are vexed.3. My soul is also sore vexed: but thou, O LORD, how long? 4. Return, O LORD, and deliver my soul: oh save me for thy mercies' sake.5. For in death there is no remembrance of thee: in the grave who shall give thee thanks? Psalm 6:1-5 ?? Here the psalmist, prays, that the Lord does not correct him, in anger, nor punish him, even though he deserves it. Asking for mercy, (which is compassion and clemency towards an offender) he seeks healing for his soul, and body, many sins of men, afflict the body. Seeking deliverance, this word implies, a release, to be set free, from a trap, to be rescued, or saved, from destruction. The psalmist, asks for the Lord's presence to return to him, because of the mercy of the Lord's salvation. Very important is this verse, if we are to thank our Lord Jesus, for His saving grace, we may only do it in this life, by living for Him, as the new creature He has made, by His atonement, on the cross. For in death, we leave behind this world, in anticipation of the next, where instead of thanking Christ, we shall be praising Him, for His, victory over sin, and death. Lord, I thank you, and praise you. Amen.
