This is the famous photo of the ghost kids of Zombie Road in Glencoe Missouri. I have have been there many times. My dad, the dogs and I would walk there every weekend when I was a small child. There is a Catholic retreat place next to the property that used to have an orphanage there. Legend says the nuns were horrible to the kids so a lot of them died and went under the radar. The name of the Catholic place is called The Marianist Retreat today. I don't know what it was called back then. Another legend that I believe has some truth to it is about the workers putting in the tracks for the railline there. The line goes on a little bitty piece of land between the bluffs and the Meremec River. When they were clearing that area they disturbed something. A lot of the men were scared off the job even though it was the start of the depression and jobs were scarce. I had a grandpa several times back that worked on it. It told stories about the labor all done by hand and how hard the mules worked along side the men. When he was asked about the strange things seen there and all he would reply with the same answer every time. 'It doesn't matter what kind, no cemetery should be disturbed or treated with such disrespect as that place was'. Indian burial ground by the bluffs perhaps?
