A Winter Storm Warning is in effect for the entire region. Low pressure will strengthen over northeast Wisconsin today, and then lift into Ontario on Friday. A light wintry mix is expected early today, followed by moderate or heavy snow overspreading the region in the late morning and afternoon. Most locations will see snow accumulations of 5 to 8 inches by the time the snow tapers off late tonight.A winter storm will bring a wintry mix and some light icing to areas west of the Fox Valley and lakeshore areas this morning. Moderate to heavy snow will develop in north central and central Wisconsin later this morning, and then spread into eastern Wisconsin during the afternoon. The heavy snow will continue into the evening before tapering off overnight. Strong west winds with gusts as high as 30 to 40 mph will develop tonight, resulting in considerable blowing and drifting of the new snow, especially in open areas and on north to south oriented roads.Strong west winds will continue through Friday, resulting in blowing and drifting snow, especially in open areas. Travel could be very difficult. Areas of blowing snow could significantly reduce visibility. The hazardous conditions will impact the commutes this evening and Friday morning.
