But I guarantee its corpse is already starting to stink. So where do we go from here? How do we prevent more of this tripe from happening over, and over again? It’s my opinion the only way is citizen oversight of our government. They can’t be allowed to function without supervision by us. Right now, they’re doing what they want, when they want, and by the time we get wind of it, it’s too late to stop it, or undo it. Doesn’t matter if it’s school boards, city councils, county supervisors, our legislatures or up the U.S. Congress, they all play their own sleight of hand games. The news cycle just tells us what we missed. The bigger deal is the question, did we really miss it or were we even looking? I think “no” is the answer too often. It’s not the China virus killing America, it’s apathy and helplessness. This paper had a letter to the editor awhile back. The writer told us the reason we’re losing the fight for America, is the Left is waging war and using direct action every day to tear down and murder this America we love. Those who support our country, its founding and principals and history, aren’t. We gripe and moan, and ask who’s going to save us? The answer today, is the same as I’ve written before – nobody. It’s us or forget it. We’re on our own. I think it’s way past time to put those in office, from both major parties – and independents, under a microscope. Put them all on “probation” and stay on top of them. Make them know we’re watching and listening. Actually take direct action the Leftists use so well. So I took the letter writer’s point. I realized I’ve got a pulpit here in this paper and share my opinions, but that’s not action. I decided to do something. You’ve probably read about it. I determined to start moving on what my gut tells me, and I put a plan together, gave it a name; Free State Citizens Action Union, and started looking for like-minded people to act with me. Because all the talk, all the griping gets nothing done. That idea is a month old now. I called a meeting. The first one brought a half-dozen folks together, followed with another a week later that tripled that. These citizens know the same thing I know. They know each of us is a part of the whole, and to wrest back this country is going to take more than one voice, or ten or a hundred voices acting alone. It must be a chorus, a loud harmony. A force and not a simple nuisance, but a threat to the established processes used by those we’ve entrusted with authority. A means to put them on notice that they’re now being watched – held to account and judged. There’ll be third gathering by the time you’re reading this. Each time bringing more ideas, enthusiasm and determination to put ideas to action. That’s “grassroots” activism, and direct action. There’s still plenty of questions how this will shape up, how it’ll be structured and how to apply what we want to accomplish to results. But it beats hell out of sitting idle, and letting events pass-by and meekly submit to our country’s decline. I started my columns to this paper with a piece titled, “How to be a Hero” last April 3rd. Go re-read it, here’s one way how to do exactly that. Because it’s “fish or cut bait”.

A... View MoreGood day to everyone! Yesterday’s meeting attendance TRIPLED last week’s! Thanks to each of you who made it, and dedicated your time and thoughts! The atmosphere was spirited, proactive and focused. After introductions, I gave a “recipe”-style presentation of my own ideas for how FSCAU can be structured, and a rough outline of the elements I think are needed to fulfill its’ Mission Statement to accomplish our goals. The recipe: “The Meat”. The core of this effort are Committees and I proposed five: (1) Local City Councils and County Over-watch Committee, (2) State Legislative Over-watch Committee, (3) D.C. Congressional Over-watch Committee. These are supported by two others; (4) Presentations, Events and Demonstrations Committee and, (5) Telephone, Email and Letters Campaigns Committee. The three Over-watch Committees purposes are: (a.) to research the local area city councils and county boards, State Legislature and U.S. Congress to identify their members by name, Ward, “Beat”, District and such, and their party affiliation, their meeting schedules (place, dates and meeting times). (b.) Collect available “intelligence” on members past voting records and public statements, their committee or sub-committee memberships and gather information on proposed items, and agendas coming before those bodies (ordinances, Bills, amendments to existing laws, regulations, etc). (c.) Identify issues counter to the mission of FSCAU, and attend sessions where practicable and as often as possible – to promote transparency, dialogue and interaction with citizens - and speak out. (d.) Coordinate with the Telephone, Email and Letters Campaign and Presentations, Events and Demonstrations Committees, to affect Direct Action activism necessary to be heard. To that aim, volunteers were solicited, and several FSCAU members accepted to take preliminary, exploratory steps to collect information as outlined above, and have it available for review and broader discussion at our next meeting. Details about Committees and who wants to involve themselves will be “fleshed out” as we go. This is real progress! “The Potatoes”. Are the “filler”. This ingredient gives structure to FSCAU. In military parlance it’s the chain-of-command. How will we structure FSAU? A Chair and Co-Chair? A Recorder/Secretary? Do we need a Treasurer? Other positions and roles like IT and Media/PR, Committee “Captains” were discussed. Additional discussion included legal standing ( can we operate as is, do we seek a 501c status?), when, if and how we can take or should accept or solicit donations. Everyone was encouraged to consider all aspects, think about these things, and we’ll open up inputs next week. “The Peas and Carrots”. Are us. Activism isn’t a “spectator sport”. It takes our belief in the cause for our activism, our commitment, energy and participation. Those who’ve come to FSCAU know it takes growth as well, so on-going recruitment of like-minded Patriots is vital, because everyone brings something to the table! So we’ll have to make ourselves visible, not be shy about speaking with others and “Spread The Message!” Other items covered were the importance of knowledge. Suggested reading includes: A member brought and shared “Cliff Notes” he’d prepared from Mark Levin’s book American Marxism, and a couple of excerpts were quoted from the Leftist Saul Alinsky’s Rules for Radicals. Know your opponent! There’s tons more folks! You may want to review the Republican National and Mississippi State Party Platforms and the Democrat counterparts. Read your city, town or county charters… have fun! The next meeting is tentatively scheduled for the same place, day and time. I’ll send a Meeting Announcement when I’ve got it nailed down.
